A question for the pro / elite riders …?
Hi Guys and Girlz, Hybrid single speed vs.'m stuck in a small dilemma … Having recently crossed with the world of road racing, apart from my trips long weekend, which currently make most of my training on my journey to and from work during the week. Now is the time for me to replace my commuter bike (mountain bike) of something new. I can not decide between a hybrid or a single speed. The hybrid will allow me to continue my journey to and from work extended one day by turning in a low gear and grind away with a hard march. Now if I gives a single speed, I'll be grinding away on the climbs and spinning in the flats / downhills. But not in my own channel … The benefit of a single speed is that it is less maintenance. From a professional point of view, what makes you think that cycling would be more beneficial for my training? Thanks for the answers today, but I have a bike good road to use for training on weekends and for racing.
I also graduated from traveling by road racing a few years ago and changed by traveler on a mountain bike for sport touring bike that I have been able to establish to fit exactly like my race bike. Later bought a bike ride that was the best suburban bar down as my road bike, but able to fit larger tires, fenders, and racks for carry my baggage to work. It was still fast enough for general road riding, in fact it became my bike in early season training and like my neighborhood. A single speed might not be good for training, unless your trip is flat, and a hybrid will not fit something like a road bike. Cyclocross bikes work well enough to go to work, but are not as well suited for travel and carry equipment as a touring bike
